Error 631: The Port was Disconnected by the User

Check your Modem settings: Open your Control Panel Local the Modems or Phone and Modem Options icon. Open the icon and look for the name of your modem. Go to the Properties or Settings of your modem. Make sure the Maximum Port Speed is set appropriately; ie 56K modems would choose 57600, etc. Click on the Advanced tab. Click Change Default Settings . Make sure Disconnect if idle for... is unchecked. Ensure Cancel call if not connected in... is checked and set to 180. Click OK until you have excited the modem settings. Try connecting again. You may need to restart first. Disable Call Waiting: Locate the 295.ca icon (on Dial-up Networking or Network Connections ) Right-click on the icon and click Properties. Click at the front of the Phone Number field and type *70 in front of the existing number. Do not add ANY spaces. The number should look as follows: *70,4168484404

Error 630: Port Disconnected Due to Hardware Failure

Verify you have a modem installed: Go to your computer's Control Panel Local the Modems icon or Phone and Modem Options icon Open this icon and look for the name of your modem(s). Go to the Properties or Settings for each modem and click Diagnostics Click Query Modem . If the results say that your modem is not functioning properly, then the modem you have selected is not installed. Press OK and then remove that modem. Repeat this step for all modems listed until you find the one that works. Once you have located the working modem, remove all others and press OK . NOTE: This may identify that a modem is on your PC, however it doesn't guarantee it will work as you may not have the correct drivers installed for it Verify you have the working modem selected for 295.ca: Go to your computer's Control Panel Select Network Connections and locate the 295.ca icon Right click on the 295.ca icon and click Properties Check Connect using: Modem - ... and select the modem that works (having identified it through the steps above). Click OK Try connecting If the above steps do not fix the problem, you may need to reinstall your modem or get newer modem drivers. It is also possible that your modem is no longer functioning which may require the purchase of a new one. 295.ca can not help you with the reinstall and is not responsible for costs incurred from repairing or replacing modems.

Error 629: Port Disconnected by the Remote Computer

Check your encryption settings: Click Start Click Settings Click Control Panel Click Network Connections Right-click on the 295.ca icon and click Properties Select the Security tab Ensure the option Allow Unsecured Password is selected Ensure Typical Settings is selected Check your modem settings: Click Start Click Settings Click Control Panel Click the Modem icon or the Phone and Modem Options icon Look for the name of your modem Go to the Properties or Settings of your modem Make sure the maximum port speed is set appropriately (ie. 56K modems would choose 57600 etc) Click the Advanced tab. Click Change Default Settings. Ensure Disconnect if idle for... is not checked Ensure Cancel call if not connected in... is checked and set this number to 180 Click OK until you have excited the modem settings. Try connecting again; you may need to restart first.

Error 602: Port Already Open

Check the phone cord: a faulty modem or faulty phone cord can definitely can this problem. Ensure your phone cords are tightly and properly secured. Make sure there is a cord going from the wall directly into the back of the computer. The cord from the wall should be plugged into the "line" outlet on the modem. Restart your computer. Turn the computer off and leave it off for at least one minute before restarting. If you have an external modem, switch it off and wait one minute before restarting it also. Ensure that no other programs or software are using the modem. Fax software or fax machines using the modem prevent 295.ca from being able to dial out. Turn off the computer and wait one minute before restarting. If it still not working, disconnect any modem-dependant hardware and then re-connect. Reinstall the modem. For this you will need to have your correct modem drivers. 295.ca cannot assist you in reinstalling your modem; you must do this yourself or have a technician do it for you.
