1. Check the phone cord: a faulty modem or faulty phone cord can definitely can this problem.
    • Ensure your phone cords are tightly and properly secured.
    • Make sure there is a cord going from the wall directly into the back of the computer. The cord from the wall should be plugged into the “line” outlet on the modem.
  2. Restart your computer. Turn the computer off and leave it off for at least one minute before restarting. If you have an external modem, switch it off and wait one minute before restarting it also.
  3. Ensure that no other programs or software are using the modem. Fax software or fax machines using the modem prevent 295.ca from being able to dial out.
    • Turn off the computer and wait one minute before restarting.
    • If it still not working, disconnect any modem-dependant hardware and then re-connect.
  4. Reinstall the modem. For this you will need to have your correct modem drivers. 295.ca cannot assist you in reinstalling your modem; you must do this yourself or have a technician do it for you.
